Growing up, I was a bookworm who always asked, "Why?"
Curiosity is what drives me, and my passion for strategic writing is what propels me. As a communications professional, I have acquired skills encompassing strategic writing, reporting, social responsibilities and globally minded communities.
My adventure in the strategic communication field began when I created a social media campaign for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) while I was a student there. Through the campaign, I highlighted students, staff and faculty members with international ties through partnerships and engagement.
My passion for international affairs however began much earlier when I was selected to represent the State of Nebraska to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women while I was in high school. I continued integrating my international engagement path through journalism study abroad programs in Spain and Rwanda, traveling, and integrating global engagement within my work and outside of my work.
Initially, I received the U.S. Fulbright Award to each English in Timor-Leste after graduating from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. However, the pandemic altered my plan. I shifted a direction, while advancing my communications career, by stepping up to become the Communications Lead for Global Ties Nebraska, where I worked to help execute U.S. State Department’s International Leadership Program (IVLP) to host emerging leaders in international trade and agriculture through governance programs, diplomacy, and cultural visits to advance American values.
My involvement led me to work in my alma mater, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where I implemented various U.S. State Department programs, such as the Mandela Washington Fellowship and the Fulbright Program.
My advocacy back in my home state Nebraska led me to D.C., where I took all what I have learned to advocate for a better foreign policy implementation.
As the current Communications Project Manager at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), I implemented an integrated marketing communications approach to increase engagement with Members of Congress, private sectors, state officials, and Board Members to increase advocacy support for the International Affairs Budget (IAB).
At USGLC, I created external and internal communications content through event engagement with Members of Congress, business leaders, and embassy partners, print and digital publications, social media, toolkits, and lead in graphics, visuals, and design assets to increase public support for global development and diplomacy programs as a part of national security tools.
My educational background, passion for writing and the experience of immigrating to the U.S. at the age of 13 have allowed me to strive to become a communication strategist, a learner and most importantly — a connector.
No matter the different communications and campaign projects, community engagement connection is still the core of my work
With my never-ending curiosity and drive to succeed, I aim to improve the world to be a safer and more prosperous place.
